Keema rice is a popular dish found on every takeaway menu and is an absolute favourite in our house. With aromatic flavours, it’s easier to make this recipe than you think.

Keema rice is one of my favourite side dishes if we get a treat and have a takeout. However, it gets expensive eating out, so we’ve found a way to recreate the dish at home for the perfect fakeaway!

Making keema rice is a really easy recipe…

First off, cook your rice as normal and add in the turmeric which gives the rice that golden yellow colour.

While the rice is cooking, you can get the spiced meat ready.

Cook your chopped onion (don’t worry if it’s all the same size – some chunkier bits makes it taste better (well, that’s what I think anyway 🙂 )). When the onion starts to brown, add in the minced lamb and begin to cook it.

Now, add in the cayenne pepper to give the lamb a delicious spice and continue to cook.

Once the meat is fully browned, you can stir through the cooked rice and voila!

Super simple to make, you may want to devour a bowl of keema rice on its own, but it’s lovely served with your favourite curry.

It doesn’t take a lot of effort either; it’s a no hassle recipe you can whip up while you’ve got your homemade curry cooking in the background 🙂
